In Colorado this year (2024), unaffiliated voters were mailed out their ballots for both the Democratic and Republican Presidential Primaries and get the chance to vote in one or the other (NOT both).
I’m fairly centrist. I lean left on progressive ideals and right on economic (yeah, it’s fun /s).
The question is, who’s should I put my vote in for? Is it better to vote for Biden or another candidate in the Democratic, or another candidate that isn’t Trump in the Republican. Again, we can only vote in one of the primaries or our vote won’t count if we vote in both. It’s one or the other.
What is best?
Currently, no one is driving Trump bonkers more than Nikki Haley, I’d suggest voting for her in the primary just to keep her in as long as she can and see if we can make Trump’s head explode.
I like the way you think. lol.
From a risk mitigation perspective, I would vote for Republican not Trump.
There is no scenario where a sitting president that’s eligible for re-election does not end up as the candidate for their party.
That’s kind of where I was leaning. I’m more interested in keeping Trump off the ballot than anything else. It’s real doubtful that it won’t happen but I don’t want to contribute to it either. Obviously the main idea is that he doesn’t become President again.
Trump is right wing on social issues and if you care about actual fiscal responsibility youd never ever vote for a republican. Them saying theyre fiscally responsible does not make it true. They are contrarian plutocrats nothing more.
Of course. This is for the Party Primaries not the Presidential election. See other comments for the strategies discussed.
Republicans are a major roadblock for the advancement of humans as a species. Yes Dems are shit but Republicans are straight up evil and do real harm to a lot of people. That shit trickles around the world, so do us all a favour and stop voting Republican.
Voting in the Republican primary is not the same thing as voting for Republicans. It could even be an act of sabotage against the Republicans depending on the election.
Doesn’t answer my question but thanks.
That’s not how US elections work.
I’m all-in on trying to ratfuck Trump so I’ll be voting in the ® primary
I’m also in Colorado and unaffiliated. I ended up voting for Gabriel something on the democratic ballot. I’m probably more leftist than you are. I kinda wish that I had thought of what the other commenter said about voting for a Republican that’s not Trump.
If you go the route of voting for a Republican that’s not Trump, research the candidates and choose the lesser evil. Most of them should have websites for their campaigns. If they don’t have one, don’t vote for that person. They probably aren’t serious about it.
Greatest evil (that’s not Trump) probably has better odds.
Honestly, you’re not wrong. I just want to have hope in humanity. 😭

I don’t really like or trust any of them. Do any of us?

Vote for the candidate with the best chance of winning that you least don’t un-hate the most.
Imagine that this needs to be your thought process for an election. Fucking sad.
It’s a shame. But that’s what you get in a first past the post voting system. A two party system with high negative partisanship.
