Not racist. You can learn whatever language you want. In fact you don’t even need to learn Japanese. You can just use a translator app. This only is discrimination against those too lazy to do either.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What was the conversation about sex and drugs like in your home growing up?
5·1 month agoThe principal of my small-town high school heard kids talking about pump jack parties. He thought we were going out to a pump jack to get drunk and ride the pump jacks. Apparently, in his day, that’s what kids did. He brought in a guest speaker from a local oilfield company to talk to the senior students about the dangers of doing that.
We were dumbfounded by the talk because none of us had ever thought to ride a pump jack. What we called a pump jack party was just when a specific couple parked their car in the country to have sex.
Older people in the community have since confirmed that riding pump jacks was indeed a thing.

2·2 months agoBoycott - To abstain, either as an individual or a group, from using, buying, or dealing with someone or some organization as an expression of protest.
For me those last words, “as an expression of protest” are important. For me there’s no protest and thus no boycott. The upset caused me to try Canadian products. I like them better.

161·2 months agoCalifornia senators don’t get to tell me what to buy. Framing it as a “boycott” is just wrong, at least where I live. We have American booze on the shelves. I just don’t want to buy American garbage anymore so I’m not doing it.

12·2 months agoCalm down. It’s probably not as dramatic as that. It’s just that the billionaires need the AI cockroach swarms to deliver fresh children to their bunkers during the uprising. The humanoid and canine robots will do most of the exterminating.
What if there’s a … um … protuberance on the bottom where the branch meets the trunk? What’s the correct measuring procedure in that case?
