I think there‘s a bunch of different groups. There‘s Gen X that got taught not to share their personal info, the current generation is growing up being taught this as well, a lot of all gens gave sites everything because clueless or indifferent, and then the groups that deliberately shared info trying for internet fame.
There‘s plenty of Gen X that are clueless about privacy and computers.
Knowledge about avoiding tracking, obfuscating your identity, blocking ads, etc. requires constant effort ad knowledge. We‘re on lemmy, and that‘s a bit of an echo chamber because people here as a whole tend to be more knowledgeable about computers, and people here seem to forget that like 90% of the population are clueless about them.
Honestly if it were on the shore there would be no end of developers clamoring to build into the park or at least along the shore edge of the park. The park would be whittled down to a few spots with a view available to thr general public. Eventually some politician would cave to campaign donations from a wealthy developer.

You mean digits = deaths? We have absolutely killed that many and the WHO estimates near a half million heat related deaths. Or are you referring to a limited locale?
Buccal fat removal is just awful. It always ages people by making them look more gaunt.

Hope this isn’t a swan song for America. The last decent thing we do.

Great. Here comes a Fortnite movie. And then a live action reboot.
Idiots. Trump couldn’t even learn from Russia’s quagmire. Iran manufacturing drones and missile capacity, Ukraine using drones to attack targets inside Russia, and he didn’t think for a second about US and other infrastructure or bases outside of Iran being targeted. As far as US personnel being killed…that’s a sacrifice he’s willing to make.
$4/gal today.
Faster, please.
Still waiting for the lyme vaccine to finish and become available.
It’s worse than the 1800s. We used to have an expansive rail network. We had, at the peak, 400,000 or so miles of rail in the US. Today there is less than 140,000 miles of rail. Less than half of what we used to have. Sure, we’ve got more buses and light rail like subway, but overall it’s still a loss in total miles.

Pity we can’t spread it around. I know it’s gonna be another hot summer, but I’m tired pf sub-freezing temps.
Real life consequences.

We have had Meta headsets for a couple years. Still don’t know what the “metaverse” is. The headsets are fun, though.

Exactly. I used to participate on BIFL on that other /r/ site. It had a difficult time of it, and I have no idea where it stands now, but it devolved into “lookit this older item I pulled out of my parents’ garage that maybe got used once a year for the last 40 years if ever and it’s still working great!!”
A well cared for knife set will last a lifetime even with normal use as long as it’s halfway decent to begin with.

They felt stilted, directionless, and shallow. I really wanted them to be decent, but gave up after two.
