politics @lemmy.world•The right is targeting Abdul El-Sayed's family members
5·20 hours agoBut for the many on the right, backing down from past progressive rhetoric once, or even many times, will never be enough. It is those same folks on the right who dictate what is considered unacceptable and, in response, what many Democrats may worry is too radical or “woke” for potential voters leaning more toward the center.
This part right here is what kills me. The people he is looking to get out and vote for him are not right wing people. They aren’t the people who mass consume fucking Fox News and OAN. And the fact that Democrats seemingly always are is what’s wrong with the party.

Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Is the AI Bubble Finally, Actually About to Burst? (w/ Ed Zitron)
31·1 day agoA better example would be Russia. Their market should be an absolute free fall yet they’re still being propped up somehow.

71·3 days agoI’m sorry but Germany may have had beef due to the lopsided terms of the treaty of Versailles but Hitler, there is no excuse for Hitler. He used and abused his own people for the sake of power and tried to enact his warped vision of a perfect “aryan” ethno state by murdering millions of people in the most brutal way possible. Anyone who tries to excuse Hitler’s actions can go get FUCKED.

4·3 days agoThe man is still in debilitating pain. Suffering through a long trial with all the pomp and circumstances surrounding it would have just been agony I think. Plus, now they can get the state charges dismissed on double Jeopardy so he doesn’t have to deal with that. And by pleading guilty he denies the, now completely right wing owned mass media, the circus they were so hoping to be able to monetize.

1·3 days agoDo yourself a favor and look up Georgia’s 14th district.
This is the same Wall Street Journal that is owned by NewsCorp? The multimedia company operated by Rupert Murdoch as a propaganda machine for right wing fascist policy and heavily tried to influence government to favor the ultra wealthy and hive them power. That Wall Street Journal?

20·4 days agoFrom what I’ve heard, it’s not terribly surprising. His constituency is similar to Georgia’s 14th (the one that consistently voted in Marjorie Taylor Greene). Basically British redneck boomers.

5·5 days agoThe problem is that these doctors might not even know that the AI’s are spying on them. We don’t have enough legislative protection for our private data so they could sign up for these things and be under the impression that their data is secure meanwhile these AI companies are siphoning that data into their training models without telling them. It’s not like it hasn’t happened before.

111·5 days agoThat is one of the legitimate uses. Unfortunately it’s marred by the AI companies’ complete lack of trustworthiness when it comes to data privacy and security. You can’t know for certain they aren’t just wrapping your personal medical notes into their ever growing store of training data.
No, we really don’t.
Also most of the chickens have just been simply brined. The only “chemical” you find in there is sodium chloride.
I’m sorry, what the fuck happened to garlic powder???

18·7 days agoThat’s pretty much what is driving the entire AI “boom”. It’s the Amazon effect.
Amazon, and Netflix to a certain extent as well as a number of other early internet startups, lost money for around 10 years before they started making shit tons. And everybody wants to be on that particular ride. So they are queueing up in every AI line they can find to hedge their bets on one of them being the one that survives and thrives. It doesn’t really occur to any of them that all of them could fail. Because “AI is the future”. Except there is no plan to monetize any of them. And so far every time one of them introduces a charge, people stop using it.
The bone cancer will give that other kid a better appreciation of life… Oh, apparently they are dead. That bone cancer in their child will give their parents a better appreciation of…
Even before that there was a boom in people using houses as an investment opportunity instead of just a place for people to live. Land ownership became the get rich quick opportunity that people who don’t play the stock market could put their money into. Then the people who do play the stock market got into it.
I’m actually thinking about how the Trojans went on to create the Roman Empire thereby overtaking the Ancient Greek civilization that once defeated them.

Did you realize that FDR was a socialist right? All of the popular policies that he instituted were socialist policies.
