This timeline sucks.English13·1 day agoBooted my desktop since my work computers windows and I game mostly on my steam deck, and holy shit is Manjaro fast as hell compared to windows in 2025. Like I’m so used to clicking and waiting and in Manjaro you click and it’s just there.
Man fuck windows.

Ya all the gun nuts, aren’t you supposed to bear arms at this point? Wasn’t that the point?
Gonna be a rough time. Maybe we will have it all at once and wipe out 3/4 of the worlds population and maybe the planet will recovery a few generations later.
But that would be a stretch of a silver lining.

Just like ATMs at the pickup counter have a default tipping prompt, which is now normalized, imagine filling up at the gas pump and being prompted ahead of time to leave a tip. Or on your Netflix subscription. Etc. Corps will take advantage of this shit once someone starts it and goes with it.

yeehaw@lemmy.cato Technology@lemmy.world•Google is intentionally throttling YouTube videos, slowing down users with ad blockersEnglish1·3 days agoYa that works too. At the time I discovered it I was using piped for a long time already. Greyjay had some more bells and whistles and the UI is more overwhelming at first. It also had a big that was annoying and functioned fine in piped so I stuck with that in the end. Also greyjay is a massive app by comparison if you care about that.
What is with all the moth memes lately?
Don’t bother with a hot spare. For household needs you’re just spending money to have a drive that will always be on. If you set up your notifications and your array right, you can have plenty of time to order a replacement.
I went RAIDZ2 both times (dual disk redundancy, any two can die and its all good). Had a few spewing warnings over the years, and just replaced them.
Anywho, my data array is about 10 years old but earlier this year I relocated to bigger disks and less disks. ZFS is worth it.
