If we’re trying to avoid WWIII, yes. It sucks and is unfair, but the responsible choice isn’t always the fair choice.

They think they get to wipe their hands of it because they “didn’t participate”, refusing to concede that said choice still counts as their participation. Through ignorance, cruelty, and/or privilege, they’ll blame everyone else for the state of the world while refusing to do their part.

The notion that he cares about anyone other than himself is laughable. He has nothing to gain from the party if he’s not in office anymore, and he’ll burn it all down before he gets dragged out.

If the rest of those turned their crimes into social media hustles, the cops would have a much easier time.

What is there to jeopardize? As long as he has the office, the dumbasses who helped him can’t do shit once they realize their massive mistake. What are they gonna do? Not vote for him again? If he shockingly doesn’t fuck with current term limits and elections, he’s not up for election again. If he predictably does, their vote is meaningless since he’s not going to leave the remotest chance things don’t go his way.

I’ve gotten multiple bans here for voting “wrong”. Not to say it’s not dumb on reddit, but Lemmy has it’s issues with disproportionate bans, too.

I don’t see how it would, but maybe I’m not seeing what you’re seeing. The eligibility of the people in the article did not change. “Only” vs “Every” still includes the same group of people.

What did change was the explicit exclusion of people outside of those qualifiers. This could potentially make challenging votes of “questionable” voters that much more impactful or difficult to defend against, and maybe make adjusting the existing qualifiers harder (the only one I can really think of is age), but that depends on WI’s amendment process, which I don’t know.
