So many people I know here are either sick or chronically ill because they have no family doctor. Hell, most people I know my age want to LEAVE Canada altogether because we loathe it here despite being born here. There are certainly old geezers here and spoiled bougies flying Ukraine flags who would be fine with war and death because they already got what they needed out of life and watch propaganda 24/7.

For the rest of us who have already sacrificed and settled for so little (even having my own place to myself while working full time is a fairy tale now), we aren’t going to just happily sacrifice more so that Trudeau and parliament can sit around some more and eat bonbons and play war games. We’re going to be pissed and resist in any way possible. I think it would politically push a lot of people over the edge, possibly into communism, but I think we all know it’s more likely to be fascism. It’s not like the NDP are going to put up any kind of actual fight lol, they’re a worthless lib party now. Canada can go fuck itself in other words.

I see your point and will try and exercise a bit more patience in the future, but I do think that part of what helped me develop from a radlib into a leftist was the occasional cold reminder when I stepped out of line without doing any investigation.

If one enters a conversation about a conflict in a leftist space where the stakes are as high as they are (WW3, really) and tries to disprove facts by doing ad hominem stuff, you deserve a bit of ridicule because that’s not a real analysis. Acting haughty and doubling down on it and pouting when others besides myself directly ask for some proof is also not really a good look. Nor is tattling to the mods when you’re losing the room.

Is it brusque? Sure. But what exactly is factually wrong with what I’m saying? I AM criticizing what they’re saying because it’s just moralism. They make an emotionally charged statement where the gist is simply that they think the source has had other bad takes (thanks, we’ll take that into consideration) and then takes it personally when others point out that the factual essence of what the source is saying is correct so their supposed character is irrelevant.

It really is not my responsibility to spare the feelings of those who charge in with emotionally and morally charged “arguments” and then martyr themselves when there is pushback from people who honestly just want to know what they’re getting at. When their stupid ass plans don’t work out domestically they can just shrug and blame it on an external factor and move on, or shuffle the deck electorally. They’re not accustomed to being in a situation where they physically, materially cannot get what they want and no amount of reality warping and coddling by their institutions can change that. The American government may be powerful enough right now to carry out atrocities like we’ve seen this week, but it simply seems far too divided and feeble domestically to actually carry out such a project which would require so much public investment, especially since it would mean an end to the many gravy trains enjoyed by the donors who decide what does and doesn’t happen. If they’re struggling just to get a few chip foundries built I really don’t think they’ll be able to wrap their heads around making a whole-ass new domestic industrial complex and undo 40 years of de-industrialization in, what, 5 years? I don’t think it’s impossible but the political economy just doesn’t seem to be there afaik. The state would need to shake off the parasites at the pentagon that are charging them 10k for trash cans and bolts for one thing, and I can’t really see how. It’s not like there’s an American Caesar waiting in the wings who can monopolize power to do necessary restructuring of the empire. The whole point of the system the founding fathers created was to prevent that from ever happening. Kamala of all people is the best they’ve got for this monumental project.

This type of thing will absolutely, undoubtedly boomerang back to the imperial core.
