  • I mean the Musk part of it is just weird. He owns an EV company, spends his money to hurt EV sales, supports Texas being anti EVs, but wants to move all his businesses there. Like the whole EV cab business only works if the people are willing to get in the cabs. And he’s trying to convince people on the right to hate them, and the left to hate him…

So he has to be losing half the market intentionally it seems.

  • Yeah I think impeachment gets dicey around what could qualify or not. Their actions don’t actually have to be criminal. What falls under harmful to the public trust becomes more of an opinion than a set rule. Like, does taking money for your campaigns from donors tied to supportimg our country starting wars across an ocean with people that in no way benefits the public? Someone could probably make that argument, that saying we should continue sending missiles to a country that has been continuously proven to use them to kill children/innocents/and needed infrastructure for humanity to survive… I would say is harmful to the public trust… But I’m sure others wouldn’t.

  • Yeah if you look at 2000 in particular Bush “won” by .01%.

If you are familiar with that election that is when Al Gore won the popular vote in the U.S., a recall was called in Florida twice and conspiracies surround how Bush’s own brother was the Governir of Florida.

Basically first count said Bush won by 1784 votes ~.009%. That triggered and automatic recount by the machines. Which came back saying he actually only won by 327 votes, meaning the room for error was wider than the election. His brother helped stall a manual recount, they sent it to the Supreme Court and the U.S. supreme court decided it didn’t matter because hand counting them would take time and awarded all 25 elector votes to Bush, making him President of an election he had not one neither the population, nor possibly the electors… But we’ll never know.

  • Florida has gone to the right in the last 10 years but before that they always swung back and forth.

Like if you look at who Florida voted for, it was pretty much who won president except the Trump 2020 election.

Election Year Winning Candidate Party Margin of Victory

    1960 John F. Kennedy D -0.2%

    2020 Donald Trump R +3.4%

  • This is actually do to government policies being put in place in the U.K., Australia and such. In those countries if a user has a child account (under 13 years old) certain safety features are turned on by default now in those countries, and the parent can choose to turn them off. If your account is over 18 years old, has a credit card attached to it, or I think there is a couple other ways it will automatically assume you are over 18 and you don’t have to prove it (otherwise you would have to scan your ID to get your Apple account to have you listed as an adult). In the U.S. you don’t have to prove it, and it is opt in by the users.

So it’s a catch 22, I think it should be opt in every where, but no one is winning a political campaign on saying 12 year olds should be able to send or receive nudes without their parents knowinh about it.

  • I want to build on what rose said.

Privacy here does not exist. If everyone can see, then everyone can see…

We are here for avoidance of corporate ownership and how they directly exploit us. There is 0 protections against them expoiting us really. (But us)

We block who we want to not see, they will still see you. If a stalker chased you, you block them, you won’t see them, and a mod hopefully will help, but they are smarter to not… Because they aren’t blocking IP addresses, they are blocking a username which any new one can come from anywhere… so what’s best?

Society rejecting a person means more than a mod rejecting one. I’m sure many want them blocked/banned/gone, it really it’s stupid. Keep them where they are, identify them, and recogze a person as what they are.

I don’t want to know Trump is called Paul Tommorow, I want to recognize a rapist by his name. Ban him, he comes back as Paul
