I get that! I’m also aiming for moderation, but realised that I needed a period of abstinence - and no defined end date - to get there. I have done it in the past, but always with a determined deadline. Result being that I just got back into old habits because I was aiming more for the deadline and less for the result and long-term vision.
I do miss a good glass of wine or tasty beer with dinner in a restaurant now, but I can only allow myself to do that once I have a clear handle on my alcohol consumption.
It’s not easy and it never will be! Experienced that with smoking as well. But it’s good to have at least someone to help and be there. That’s a good one to get you started and stay motivated. Also small things for yourself can be helpful. For me, it’s trying and ranking as much alcohol free beers as possible. Being from Belgium, I love(d) me some special beers. Now that I’m not drinking, it’s fun to explore this “new” world and find the best one!
Things suck, especially kicking addictions and habits, but over time the sucking gets manageable.
been over 2 months since I had a drink but I approve! haha
Breaking monotony helps me keep my day interesting haha
Bonus is now you can choose whatever you want for lunch!
Cleaned up my garage yesterday. Found about 15 of them, I guess
more 9 to 5 here (although variable depending on events and film work etc.). all going smooth and well until lunch at about 12.30/1 and then only doing very small tasks until about 4 when I get a productivity boost again

He could do the funniest thing and just start with a speech doubling down on everything he said plus take the whole situation and compare it to fascist/dictatorial leadership

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Does anyone else speak a mix of their languages ever?
5·5 months agoI remember a subreddit called “Belgicaans”. It’s basically a place where we would converse in sentences that combined our three native languages (Dutch, French and German). Was very funny to do actually! But speaking like that? No, never

Yes, this! No annoying purists in the cassette community (they might be there, tho, but haven’t encountered any yet so there’s that)
Oh I do have a lot of records as well, but cassettes have their charm as well! It’s easy to take them on the go (provided you have a walkman, which ALSO has its charm hahaha) and a lot cheaper than records. I like to collect my music on physical media, and cassettes make that very easy for me. A lot of the more “underground”/indie bands I listen to still release their music on tape as well. Plus, it’s very satisfying, indeed. I didn’t really grow up with cassettes (I’m 27), but nonetheless it has a certain feel to it.

you mean “kornul”?
