I tried getting back into Lego for a while before switching to Gunpla/mecha models. Lego was starting to get expensive and I had a friend who was pushing me to give Gunpla a try. Your guy looks pretty cool, though. My goal was to build my own custom mecha.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•To people outside the UK : Do you recognise this man?English
1·5 days agoI remember hearing that song years ago and recognized the name because of that, but didn’t recognize his face.
1/100, about 19cm tall to the top of the head.

Finished this a few days ago. Kitbashed and custom painted.
My main issue with 4 was the powers kinda trivialize things and make vehicles obsolete. Yes, I know I can still drive and customize cars, but what’s the point when I can clear half the city in 2 super jumps? None of the crazy weapons are worth using when you can just stomp or make tornadoes by sprinting. I still had fun with 4, but late game got old kinda fast compared to 3.
Having played 2, 3, and 4, I found 3 hit the sweet spot where things were zany, but not too over the top.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Those of you who have a gift or a passion that doesn’t pay enough to be financially independent and have a job to pay the bills, what does it look like?English
28·11 days agoThere’s nothing wrong with working a job only to pay the bills and seeking fulfillment outside of work. I love my hobbies, but I wouldn’t want to try and monetize them because they’re for my enjoyment, and turning them into a job would sap all that enjoyment out.
I think society (at least in the USA) has failed the younger generations in that regard. I remember being in school in the 90s and 00s and being told repeatedly to go to college for something you enjoy and are passionate about (also you need a 4 year degree, but that’s a different conversation). You definitely aren’t a failure for working a career that falls outside of your passion(s). Ask yourself what your end goal is for pursuing music as a career. Is that goal unattainable by pursuing it outside of work?

2·16 days agoCheck out Unicorn Overlord. It’s been touted as the spiritual successor to Ogre Battle, and I agree.

2·17 days agoThe other comments have good suggestions, but I’ll Add Rogue Squadron. Ogre Battle 64 is also good if you like strategy RPGs.

3·17 days agoThe only thing Goldeneye had better was higher framerate. And yes, I played against bots for countless hours. Except DarkSims. They were cheaters.
My friend group has been making an effort to have a get-together at someone’s house once a month and we have been taking turns hosting. It’s been nice.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is your favourite hobby and what do you value it for?English
2·1 month agoPlastic models, specifically Gunpla. I like working with my hands and the feeling of satisfaction of building up a kit from just pieces. I also find it kinda funny that a hobby that revolves around working at a desk by yourself has led me to multiple communities, a new friend group, and even has me traveling around some for model shows.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If you could see one statistic above every person's head, that is updated in real time and never goes away, what would you choose?English
111·2 months agoThere are plenty of useful things, but I think I’ll be a child and say the amount of time since they last farted. Though, that would be useful if you’re about to walk into an elevator and you see someone’s timer flip back to 0…

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How did browsers make money before they sold user's data?English
92·2 months agoChrome was initially a lightweight and fast browser, since Firefox and IE were bloated to hell. From what I understand, their aim was to make browsing faster so people could run more searches and they could make money that way. The same went for their ISP project. Higher bandwidth meant more searches/browsing and more ads being served.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Does importation of goods void sales tax?English
4·2 months agoDepends on where you live. Also, if you’re importing from another country, you may have to pay import duties and tariffs, not to mention shipping. This may end up costing more than the domestic price for said item.
