News@lemmy.world•Oklahoma university instructor on leave after failing Bible-based essay on genderEnglish
57·3 个月前The assignment was for a psychology class about lifespan development. Students were asked to write a 650-word response to an academic study that examined whether conformity with gender norms was associated with popularity or bullying among middle school students.
The essays were graded out of 25 points, broken down by whether the student demonstrated an understanding of the article and addressed a specific aspect of the argument put forth. Fulnecky received zero points for her work.
"Please note that I am not deducting points because you have certain beliefs,” the instructor wrote in feedback obtained by The Oklahoman. Instead, the instructor said the paper did “not answer the questions for the assignment.”

14·3 个月前I just read up a bit on the CPRA. I’m gathering that it at least was a pretty decent civilian watchdog under Mac Muir, however he resigned back in February due to budget cuts. Their website hasn’t even been updated with that info, so I have little hope.
Who is calling you “selfish” for this, and why? This just doesn’t make any sense and seems more like a one-off person with personality problems

60 years ago, Democrats were creating Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP, and the Job Corps, passing civil rights, voting rights, and labor protection acts, and massively expanding investment in public housing and education. It’s only in the past 45 years things have really gone sideways

I’m mostly referring to clothes stores
Dude. I worked retail back in the aughts, and when I go in stores today, I still hear many of the same songs from back then

World News@lemmy.world•Venezuela denounces ‘colonialist threat’ as Trump orders airspace closedEnglish
411·3 个月前What’s crazy is how much deference the media continues to give this guy. Trump said in a social media post “consider Venezuelan airspace closed.” He didn’t say anything at all in an official capacity, much less take any steps to set up a no-fly zone, which is what it would take to actually close Venezuelan airspace. This is just a thought he had while he was pooping
