SteamDB says Rimworld, but I’m almost certain it’s actually Fallout: NV, as the Nexus launcher at one point bypassed Steam and so those hours aren’t represented. I have about 1100 hours in Rimworld, but probably closer to 3000 in Fallouts 3 and NV.

When I was in my 20s, the only people I met who were at least somewhat well-adjusted were those who had either worked through college or participated in something like the Peace Corps. Big big fan of mandatory civil service, especially as an option for those who don’t know what they want to do with their lives yet.

I am absolutely in favor of some sort of civil service or CCC-revival in the US. I’m so fucking tired of how anti-social and disrespectful of others Americans are, and it seems like Covid has only accelerated that.

In my experience, if you’re white, male, and have a semblance of your shit together, you’ll be done in 6 months or less. I’ve seen minorities stuck in the process for years, despite having the squeaky-cleanest of records. (On the flip side, I heard a rumor that someone in the building recently got their reinvestigation processed successfully despite having recently received their 3rd DUI…) The exception to that is if you’re in the military, as the government will have a record of anything you’ve ever done, and if you’re an officer then you probably already have a clearance to begin with.

Well, you could start by taking a break asking every single person on this thread how their life is terrible. That would make my life marginally better.
