Horrific racism aside, if their goal was actually foundation of an intellectual elite or some kind of utopian master society, they wouldn’t defund education, science, art. Their goal has only ever been power and control.
They’re not mutually exclusive. Look at the U.S. today; defund the public programmes that make this accessible to everyone and restrict it to the rich elite that can pay for it.

Mulatto Studfarm, now there’s a band name
Reminder that the Nordics were actually quite excited about racial science and purity. Here in Sweden we pretended to be neutral, while experimenting on native populations (all the Nordics did this) and giving full access to the Nazis to use our railroads and resources to invade Norway.
Let’s see, the most recent overturn of a eugenics law here in Sweden was… uhmm, let’s see what does the records say. Oh right, it was in 2013, before which trans people were forced to get sterilised if they wanted their gender recognised.
We love to pat ourselves on the back and claim that we’re all progressive and egalitarian, but it’s a bold faced lie.
My favorite tidbit about this:
Norwegian writer Knut Hamsun gave his Nobel Literature Prize medal to Nazi propaganda minister Joseph Goebbels in 1943. A strong supporter of the Nazis, Hamsun was convicted of treason in 1947 and spent the rest of his life in mental institutions.
The prize has always been a joke meant to rehabilitate the image of the founder.
I had never heard of this piece of shit before and my life was better for it.
I know this isn’t the point, but did Goebbels write? This is the literature prize, not the peace prize.
He was an absolute master of propaganda. The best / worst we’ve ever seen to the best of my knowledge. Evil genius doesn’t even scratch the surface.
All the way through the 1920’s and 30’s he masterfully moved public opinion in Germany, shutting down the free press, hosting the Olympics while convincing the West that Germany just wanted peace, nudging the populous towards war, the works.
Edit: thankfully for us all he recorded it in diaries that survived. He was a true believer. Hitler would never have achieved what he did without Goebbels. Others played pivotal roles but fuck me that pair were something.
I know little of it, but thought Speer was the designer of propaganda. The eagle and such.
He was inner circle but wasn’t nearly as public facing until half way through the war then did a massive and very successful rationalisation on their war machine that was too late. The allies were massively out producing them by then and there was no catching up. Not sure how much design work he did though.
Goebbels was the public mouthpiece from the offset.
