But that’s exactly where the incredible wealth of interwoven community comes from! The value of a thing isn’t distillable to a hard number, and in trying to do so, we cheapen the wonderful and make the essential unaffordable. Could have been stolen from a school? When I was younger I used to live on military bases and you could get second hand instruments for basically nothing. It was pretty common for military families to just not return their instruments to whatever off-base school they were going to when they moved.
