The 30-second TV spot, released Thursday, features Andrews in a lab coat responding to Trump’s depiction of her as a trans ally in a fearmongering attempt to bolster support for her Republican opponent, Darline Graham Nordone, sister of the late senator Lindsey Graham.
“Politics can get pretty ugly,” Andrews says at the top of the ad. “And when it does, you deserve to hear the truth. My career as a pediatrician has always been about taking care of kids and I’ve got three of my own, so I want you to hear me loud and clear.”
She continues, “I don’t support biological men playing women’s sports and I don’t support and haven’t ever performed gender surgery for minors.”
Andrews’ ad comes just three days after Trump used an anti-trans slur to refer to Andrews in a post on Truth Social.

This honestly sounds like laypeople hearing someone speak scientifically and not understanding…
I was born male, if I started hormone therapy, I would no longer be “biologically male” because the hormones are changing that. Hormones are a massive part of biology. The article acts like she said “genetically male” which would have been clearly bigoted, and also scientifically wrong.
There’s a very real chance she’s saying she wouldn’t support a troll like South Park portrayed Randy Macho Man Savage…
Someone that hadn’t even started any type of transition, but was claiming to have already transitioned.
And also, fucking nobody is performing gender affirming surgery on minors…
That also reconciles what the article can’t comprehend:
She didn’t necessarily flip flop, she said something that can be interpreted two different ways.
And instead of asking for clarification, everyone is going on assumptions.
She might be a bigot, she might be pretending to be a bigot for votes…
Or she might have just used scientific language
If your political ad requires a wall of text to explain I don’t think it’s a very good ad
Hopefully she’s able to definitively clear things up herself by issuing another statement making her support for trans rights more clear
I’m not saying it’s a bad ad…
I’m not saying she’s a good candidate…
I’m saying anyone who thinks hormone therapy doesn’t change biology or that gender affirming surgery is performed on children; doesn’t know what they’re talking about.
Which at least makes sense for conservatives, and explains both why theyd be confused and like it, and why the candidate would have phrases it like this. She expected the left to not be as stupid as conservatives.
I dunno, I get burnt over-estimating peoples intelligence all the fucking time. The alternative is running everything I’m about to say thru a filter of “at least 82% of people won’t be able to follow if I don’t over explain”.
That’s not my fault, it’s not anyone’s fault who reads my comments.
That’s just how statistics and a 3 SD IQ difference works. 82% of people are 115 or lower, if someone is over 145, it causes confusion on both sides, and that usually causes frustrations.
Like, even now man…
You’re criticizing her for not being detailed enough, and at the same time me for being too detailed when I tried to explain it.
It still didn’t work, it would take a lot more than a paragraph apparently for me to explain it to you. But there’s a limit where people just won’t read a comment. It’s too long so people get frustrated and lash out.
Totally normal man.
So you think she’s throwing out dog whistles to conservatives to let them justify their transphobia and that’s somehow supposed to be a good thing? I guess I have a higher opinion of her and think this was just terrible communication.
I strongly encourage you to keep thinking about that conclusion until you come to a different one
If someone starts hormone therapy, do you think it changes their biology?
Edit:
To be clear, I’m saying it does.
That’s literally what transitioning means.
