Be me. Try to do the right thing. Do what society tells me. Work hard. Get hit in the face by the rock of life and am stumbling hard.

Be them. Worst of the worst, crimes against absolutely everyone and everything. Reach the pinnacle of success.

I really think the Germans need to come up with a new word for the contrast I’ve stated.

No single words, and nothing that seems too interesting in German, but there’s a good Cantonese phrase that encompasses that sentiment:

      殺人放火金腰帶,修橋補路無屍骸

shā rén fàng huǒ jīn yāo dài, xiū qiáo bǔ lù wú shī hái

Roughly, “murder and arson earn a gold belt; doing good deeds (lit. building bridges and repairing roads) leaves no corpse (i.e. no one can find your body to bury properly).

As a kid I got the idea of job hopping, switching companies every few years for more money. My dad said, ‘if you try to climb too fast you’ll break your neck’.

Turns out… No, the most successful people are absolutely the ones who are so completely full of shit and talk from both sides of their mouth and do what they condemn for everyone else with great gusto.

I’ve been in IT for many years. At least when markets are not like they are right now, moving to another job was absolutely the way to get market wages.

Being the “nice guy” and sticking around for “loyalty to the company” (lol) just fucks over the worker. It’s not unethical to vote with your feet.

I’ve been in situations where people try to manipulate good people into thinking that it is.

My problem is also that I am autistic and have a plethora of other issues. My greatest problem was always in finding decent work. Right now I have a job that is very good and pays well and I consider it my first ever ‘real’ job. I got it at 40. So that’s how long it took me to do it.

The guys who job hop right after college and are directors by their late 30s are not something I can imitate, sadly. Not out of lack of trying. It is just that fucking hard for me.

I never angled for management per se in these jumps; often it was doing only slightly different work (mostly just swapping the emphasis on different tools/languages/operations systems, etc.) but just getting gouged because market rates went up or how I came in with a lowballed salary because of coming in with no experience or after a layoff…

Sorry to hear about your struggles. Yeah, work is a place that is rarely accommodating of, well, anything, least of all people that are not cut from a certain mold.

He and his wife were so shocked and horrified by Jeff that Howard kept doing stuff with him for another decade plus after the supposed interaction in 2005 that had them so verklempt:

Lutnick said he and his wife left and decided that he would never be in a room with Epstein again. He further said that he was never with Epstein socially, for business, or through philanthropy.

      Oh, what’s this?

Records released in 2026 contradicted the ordinary meaning of that account. They documented attempts to communicate after Epstein’s 2008 conviction, an in person meeting in 2011, a social visit to Little Saint James in 2012, shared participation in an investment, philanthropic and fundraising intersections, and direct correspondence in 2018.

The conservatives made another oopsie-doodle! No big deal, the Murc’s Law Media should probably pivot to some bOtHsIdEs story, for balance, stat…

I’m not saying this is true or isn’t true.

But the article does credit Katie Johnson as the source and there is reasonable doubt as to whether she even exists. The only person who claims to have spoken to her is a Jerry Springer Story Producer.

What We Know About Origins of Trump Child Rape Allegations

The reason why I say this is I think it’s important to be factual even when making allegations against scum like Trump. Any false rumor we spread is another victory for MAGA and the right. It’s a way for them to convince more people that the left is evil.

Thank you for providing a detailed and skeptical response.

I have fallen victim of sharing/spreading political claims without enough due diligence.

We must ensure that credibility is the most important criteria. Otherwise, even the most spurious claims are used to frame things against other evidence.

Fuck Trump forever, he is a pedophile. We must pursue the highest standards of evidence to compel the Judiciary.

And the rabid knee jerk reactions of a lot of people make them more and more like MAGA. Staying skeptical and asking for evidence is a good thing, that’s how society works. Otherwise we’re just going into actual witchcraft accusations where the accusers are always and by default in the right and beyond reproach, which does not make for a great society to live in.

What is the source for this video? None of the links in the description include this video.

The link to the court case shows that Katie Johnson was completely unreachable by the court system and letters were repeated returned to sender.

Snopes and the Guardian researched Katie Johnson and neither were able to find credible claims.

I’m not saying she doesn’t exist only that there is reasonable doubt here.

This video was out when I first joined reddit around 2016. Not only was she real, but there is a witness. Also, there are plenty of verifications during that time period. You can say that you don’t believe her, but you can’t say it’s not real.

Mason signed on this week to represent the plaintiff, who filed her complaint as “Jane Doe,” according to court records. He is best known as the defense attorney for Casey Anthony, the Florida woman acquitted on charges of killing her 2-year-old daughter in 2008.

Donald Trump is accused of having forcible sex with the plaintiff while attending a party at the NYC apartment of convicted billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, according to the complaint. The plaintiff also claims that Epstein raped her twice at two such parties.

Two witnesses provided affidavits filed by the plaintiff under the names “Joan Doe” and “Tiffany Doe” that back up the woman’s story.

“Joan Doe” claims that the plaintiff told her about the assaults in 1994–95 shortly after they are alleged to have occurred.

I don’t think it’s fair to say that he’s saying he doesn’t believe her. He’s saying that it’s not easy to prove her existence. Just because you ask for facts and evidence does not mean that you side with the accused. That would mean that the whole justice system sides with the accused at all times because they require facts and evidence in a court of law.

I can say Katie Johnson might not be real because if you had read the article I linked to, you would know that Norm Lubow is the person who actually filed the lawsuit, not Katie Johnson.

Norm Lubow was also pretending to be someone named Al Taylor, who was also aggressively pushing the accusation with journalist.

Even Radar Online, which is linked in the post here is a known gossip site that didn’t believe Katie Johnson story to be credible either.

The gossip site Radar Online published a short story on April 28, 2016, noting the filing, but even it was skeptical, highlighting the fact that the person filing the claim had given apparently bogus contact information, using the address of a foreclosed house whose owner had recently died.

How does that work, filing a lawsuit on someone’s behalf, without the court being able to even verify their existence? That doesn’t make too much sense to me. She would have testify, no? It seems otherwise that’d be a pretty glaring issue with the justice system, if you can just make up people to represent without identifying them?

That’s not really enough to prove much. There are two paragraphs on that page and one of them seems inaccurate.

Two facts reinforce the credibility of Johnson’s claims. First, at the time of Johnson’s

statements to FBI, Jeffrey Epstein was not yet the infamous public figure he was to become. Thus,

if Johnson had fabricated the incident in an attempt to embarrass Donald Trump politically—as

President Trump’s campaign claimed—it is unclear why she would have made Epstein the primary

and slightly more violent perpetrator in her account

Trump was running for office when this accusation occurred in 2016. And his relationship with Epstein was already known. Remember Epstein had already been in trouble for under age sexual assault prior to 2010.

I want to be clear, I’m not saying Katie Johnson is or isn’t real. I’m just saying it’s not the nail in the coffin that we think it is.

Your accurate yet unavoidably incomplete list made me reflect on how much the term “pro-life” is inaccurate while also being propaganda spin bullshit. It is literally the term for a policy of the death cult wing of american politics. I know I’m preaching to the choir here, but god damn.

I am a nature lover and animal lover. I come from a conservative redneck-ish family and one very strong correlation throughout my life has been that the more conservative somebody is, the more likely they are to openly brag about how much they would NOT spend money to help their own pets. Or even about how they would shoot them (usually a dog) if they ever did X.

But that is part of a much larger package deal where those people define themselves by the things they hate and activities they avoid.

This is just such a strange thing to have to process. Even if you ignore the horror of it, even if you are totally pro child rape….thats just a strange argument to ever have. Normal people don’t have that sort of argument in their entire lives.

And yet we have normal people rationalizing this whole thing. I don’t understand.
