This is the honest but scary take. If you follow other regimes around the world, waiting until martial law is far too late. Your ability to move unrestricted is generally impeded by that point.

“For that reason”…. 4 years ago is a broad guess for that. It could be another 10-20 years and then you’ll be “see! See! I was right” even though it may not be any reason you thought of.

Right right “We can all clearly see where this is going but we don’t know when it will arrive. Best get out ahead of time, it’s better than waiting till it’s too late.”

You: “Nooo, that’s totally unreasonable! We might have all the time in the world! Stay stay, once it’s too late then you can try to get to safety.”

        What a stupid take.

Anyone paying attention could’ve seen this coming 15 years ago. I’ve been talking about this while I was getting arrested on the Brooklyn bridge at Occupy in 2011 and everyone rolled their eyes at us. And so little has changed - workers are still willingly making billionaires richer and more powerful. 4 years ago is late af if you ask me.

I started getting ready to leave in March 2020, as Biden secured the Dem nomination.

Because at that point it was obvious that either (a) Biden would lose to Trump (absent COVID, he would have) or (b) would win, deliver nothing, and the GOP would be back in power in 2024 with little to stop them.

The US is in worse state that I thought it would be at this point. tbh.
