Done my shopping for the week. Now to clean the bird cage
I told the man if he insists on keeping The Beard during Winter, then atleast trim it away from the top lip because sitting here whilst enjoying my dinner, I have seen some disturbing things.
do not make leek soup
😐
throws chicken tenders in airfryer then slaps in a sammich slathered with cheese and kewpie mayo i did not spend 6 hours removing render by hand to cook my own dinner, absolute bullshit this is!

Squid rings and chips, but instead of rings can you make them into cute shapes?

Kawaiiii 😻
Bacon and eggs on toast with tea please Bacon.
🥓🍳🍳
🍞☕️Thanks. Eggs are getting harder to find so I am very grateful.
One soft serve cone and a slice of pavlova please.
🍦🍰
Delicious, thank you.
If you still have those egg yolks available a nice apple crumble with custard would be appreciated.

Existential crisis 💫
(She gets half a roll of toilet paper for her nest every week after I clear away the old stuff. Thankfully, she just likes laying on it. No idea why)
Paper is warm and dry like dry leaves in nature
The things we do for our cats 😂 she looks so happy!
Memories of being a kitten in a paper nest with her mum?
minestrone for lunch … brr it’s cold inside
My olive oil is solid.
You can still afford olive oil?
It’s from the before before times when things were cheaper. Maybe I should sell it.
We bought some rice bran oil this week. Only tried it with some crumbed chicken last night so far, but it went rather well.
It’s less than half the price of olive oil.
Was still 8C outside at noon so it makes sense that I have been struggling to stay warm today. There’s a bit of sun now which is a relief. My poor toes need a hot water soak
hugs for your toes
Head north = Find sunshine
It’s been several years since my best Winter sleep period ever. Trying it again (sleeping with the window cracked). Think it went well last night.
This weird little weirdo is actually excited about it.
I slept with the balcony door open on my first night on the train to Mildura. It was nice, but that was in Creswick and it was a few c colder there than in Melbs. Woke up with freezing feet, even with socks and the blanket. The rest of me was happy though
Help me hivemind: where have I hidden the double sided tape? It is not in the tape drawer (yes I have one of those)
Interrogate the cats. They know something.
I do too. Well it’s a stckly/attach things drawer. Has glue and picture hangers and stuff too.
I split those. Tiny glue tubes go in :Tools, pins, plugs. Hangers go in: Hooks & dodads Full size glue is mostly with paint.
I too have a tape / sticky thingos draw. I thought I was alone.
Also in the tape drawer club. It’s between the screw and nail draws.
Mine is on top of my stationery holder thingy.
I really do wish framing pictures wasn’t so expensive. And Australia being Australia means that when you shop around prices seem to roughly the same everywhere.
Years ago I did a framing course at a shop - you learn how to do it yourself, then you can go in and use the equipment there and just pay for your materials. More recently I’ve just bought some cheap pictures/frames at the op shop and used those.
Would you mind sharing? This sounds interesting
Unfortunately they have both moved and changed name since I did that, I’m not sure if they are around any more or not.
There’s a place on Lygon st Brunswick that teaches framing and sells the materials. https://www.facebook.com/framesreadymade/
If I was going to be framing pictures on a frequent basis I’d consider it but that’s not where I’m at now.
Gratitude thread!
My sister bought a little studio apartment, after being dejected because she missed out at an auction a couple of weeks ago. I’m happy for her :)
I also had a lot to do at work today, so the time went by quickly.
I’m grateful for the roof over my family’s heads and for kids that enjoy spending time together. I’m actually rather grateful we’re not doing much this weekend as I need the rest. I’ll be watching the wrestling tomorrow with the kids and that’s about it. Physically I’m knackered, it’s been a tough week.
I’m grateful I found the motivation to go to the shops and grab a few things I’ve been needing for like 2 weeks. Even if that motivation was mostly because ice cream
I just had half a donut which was very yummy.
Ooh what kind of donut was it?
Chocolate iced and filled with custard. Lots and lots of custard 😁
Grateful for my oodie and my warm merino socks, and for this absolutely rich and delightful chocolate cake left over from morning tea at work. A lovely pick me up while painstakingly working through all my deductions…
I am grateful for washing machines. Without them our lives would be so such harder.
I can live without a dishwasher, oven, microwave, still don’t have a dryer, but the last thing I’d ever let go of is a washing machine. It’s a non-negotiable. life would be horrible without one
The sewing of the patchwork continues
sewing is done, now to tidy up and to press the panels
tomorrow I will cover the chairs 👍🏻
Arrrgh! I’m still not finished. Maybe tomorrow, maybe…
Already only 6.4 degrees. Would not be surprised if it gets to 0 tonight.
I feel like I just saw a hot air balloon disappear behind some trees and land in Edinburgh Gardens. That can’t be normal.
Why? They land all over the place. The pilots do an amazing job of steering them, but are still at the mercy of the winds as to where they can go and can’t plan exactly where they will end up.
It was more in my 6 years of living this apartment I had never seen it before. More concerned than anything.
They used to land there (and take off) quite frequently. Mostly the open ground to the west of the park nearest to Queens Parade. My parents lived in Rowe St just up the hill - and their dog went crazy whenever the balloons showed up. High frequency noise I expect.
