I found an original LP of the Lawrence of Arabia movie score. It’s a bit crackly but that’s because it’s been in a bad record sleeve. I have a huge supply of special sleeves now and all my LPs are carefully cleaned, the sleeves replaced and the cardboard cover cleaned and repaired if need be. The humidity of the room is still a bit low tho, that cause crackle too must water the pot plant.

Any other tips for cleaning crackly records? I bought a cheap second hand Six Wives of King Henry The Eighth and it’s very crackly.

    I have news.

Milo the guide pup is all grown up. He’s passed all his testing with flying colours - best of his litter - and there’s a person waiting for him

    Good boy Milo. Good job.

Eye primer report: Nude by Nature was a big let down. Not even 2 hrs and already oily and creased. The application had a very silicone feel so I was already skeptical.

The Barry M Lid Lock seems to be performing well. 5 hrs last night with the tiniest hint of creasing, but only if you really nitpicked and didn’t look oily or ready to really crease. That was an evening wear.

I am into almost 5 hrs of day wear and it seems to be holding up similarly.

I’m not crazy oily, but enough that eyeshadow without primer or even with foundation powder base would oil up in a couple of hours. This is why Urban Decay is so good. I used to be a little hit and miss with it when I realised that I wasn’t applying enough. Even if it’s anecdotal, the fact that my eyeshadow lasted all day in 30+ degrees in Cambodia with humidity while my face oil/sweat did its worst is a real testament to how good it is (on me anyway).

UD is just stupid pricey and I think the formula has changed like some people have mentioned, it seems to dry out and cake a lot faster in the tube. Sad.

That’s a shame about UD. I gave up on eye makeup during lockdown but it was always my go-to for eye and lips. I dunno what’s the go anymore

I’m not doing anything energetic so I don’t think I’m putting it to enough of a test, but it’s 10.47pm my eye shadow still hasn’t budged!

My daughter is off to an awards night for short stories at the local library. Her friend submitted a short story which my daughter edited. Good luck B.

Can anyone recommend a decent bean bag?

I have wanted one for ages -just need a bit of flexible seating for the apartment. But I don’t really like the super synthetic material+polystyrene options and if I search for anything “eco friendly” I am looking at hundreds of dollars… Not keen on second hand (and I tend to keep things for YEARS).

Many years go, when beanbags were first popular back in the 70s, I made one from corduroy. Lasted for quite a few years and was very comfortable. Would recommend getting a cheapie of the right shape from Kmart, ripping it along the seams and use the pieces for a pattern. Interior slightly smaller bag to hold the beans recommended. Then the outer bag can be washed as required. Linen for the outer bag would be nice, and very durable.

Yes I have been thinking about this. I am completely useless with a sewing machine but maybe I could convince a mate to help…

Worth it to have complete choice of materials. Was actually quite easy to sew - lots of long straight seams. Would recommend putting the zip in first before sewing up the big pieces. Basic design was a largish hexagon with the zip in it, then six large trapezoids and small hexagon on top. Bound to be a yt video on the topic somewhere. Here’s one - that uses foam blocks not those horrible little beans. Pumpkin style Could use thrifted material too.

Good news! Elder Minipeeler got accepted into the school we applied for! I started crying with gratitude on the phone, and when I went back into the kitchen I burst out into this huge sobbing like I rarely have before, that wracked my whole body, and everyone was most alarmed by me sobbing and smiling. I didn’t realise how much tension I was holding in my body until it all came rushing out, and now after a hard day’s work I’m utterly exhausted!

Weather has thrown me around for a 6 today.

Hopefully it’s not too all over the place this weekend.

    Warning: AFL nuffie talk

Had some really nice heartwarming moments today from parents who gave me lots of encouragements about Geelong on their match last night.

I wear my team scarf and beanie almost everyday and they know much it meant to me when I showed up super happy.

I know it’s not for everyone but it’s one of simple things that makes me happy. I hope we can go all the way this year.
