Still far from the worst coffee I ever made myself. I was too lazy to wash the cup. The cup previously held cheese flavored noodle soup. It was a hot day so I decided to pour some cold water into the coffee. I only had sparkling water. You could taste everything, the coffee, the noodles, the cheese, the water. The coffee was cheap, instant, black, bitter coffee. Still finished it.

Might be German because it looks like Spaetzle, a noodle dish served with breakfast.

How much water does your toilet use each flush? There are far better things to concern yourself with than reusing pasta water to make coffee.

Currently looking at making use of greywater to water the garden. The amount of water that would normally be wasted should be plenty to even keep grass happy. Not that I care about the grass going brown. But that should give some idea as to how much water there is to use.

Cmon guys, we all really need to make small sacrifices like having salty and starchy coffees if we want the data centers to have enough water to function. It’s a small inconvenience when you compare it to all the great ways we can use AI to scam each other’s grandparents into buying us all gift cards.

Your wording makes it sound like the end result is we actually get gift cards… You do know that’s not how scams work, right??

Wait, what kind of currency are you scamming old people for? Pretty sure the elderly know that the IRS needs them to go to CVS and buy 5k worth of Google points so they can pay their delinquent taxes.

I bet it’s rage bait. Sometimes stupid shit like this is astroturfed because we should all definitely make fun of each other instead of raging at the actual machine

She’s using a paper filter. Ffs if you are trying to Waste 0, great, but more water got used making that coffee filter than you’re going to save using fucking pasta water in your coffee. A for effort I guess.

She said it’s day 1 so she probably already had the paper filters. Better to use them than just throw them away.

Dunno about the paper filter though. You can also just put grounds in a mug and poor boiling water over it (sure, use pasta water, but make sure it’s as hot as possible). I mean you still have the grounds in the end, so maybe zero waste is impossible.

BTW there’s a trick to making coffee this way where ALL the grounds sink to the bottom: pour boilng water on them, stir, cover for a minute or so, stir again, let it rest for another minute. Drink without upsetting the solid layer of sludge at the bottom.

Yup, that’s how Turkish coffee is done and it’s flippin’ delicious. Just like with some bottled beers and wine, you only accidentally drink the dregs once.

Coffee grounds are readily compostable. And are one of the best things to compost. They bring a ton of nutrients.

A reusable metal mesh filter and then composting the grounds into plant food for a small garden is about as zero waste as you can get.

I made a similar flavor combination the other way around once. At the time I sometimes used a Keurig to make coffee and then again to make instant oatmeal. I thought it would be funny to come up with the shitty life hack of combining them into one process. I had to actually try it once, partly out of curiosity of how bad it could be, and partly to get a picture to post my “genius” idea on r/shittylifehacks.

It was bad. Not “I might throw up” levels of bad, but eating it was just such a slog. I wasn’t willing to waste a perfectly edible bowl of oatmeal for a joke, so I soldiered on through a very unsatisfying breakfast. Annoyingly, I didn’t even have a cup of coffee to wash it down with.

The dumbest part is that after going through all that, I never actually got around to making the post, and stopped participating on reddit a couple years ago now.

If I understand correctly, the result of this process was coffee-flavored oatmeal, with no cream or sugar?

I also do this, by pouring hothothot coffee over some oats to soften them. It’s a lot better if you add something sweet, though, like dates, coconut cream, maple syrup, etc.

Imagine it’s good, and then it becomes a thing where people are making pasta and throwing out the pasta just to get that sweet sweet carbowater.

For some reason it sounds good to me. I fuck with bullet coffee though.

Does pasta carry any other tastes before you’ve prepped it for something? Salt maybe?
