I used to have to fix these terminations after Joe Dick Corp Guy would break them off. It was mind numbing work, kind of like being on shopping cart duty at a grocery store.
Literally never found myself wanting one of these on my cable. I’ve found myself swearing at them more times than I can remember
Neither, cable boots are a pain in the ass no matter the design.

Guy I used to work with would intentionally break off the latch on every cable he touched, rendering this question moot.
I assume he has since disappeared under mysterious circumstances, at the same time as all of his coworkers were somewhere else on a walk together (or so they swear)
That guy must get around because I have seen far too many cables like that in important racks.

What is this?
I know what crimping is, and I know how to terminate an Ethernet cable, but I don’t know why you’d want to crimp 4 things at once and don’t know what those socket things you’re crimping on are?
Ferrules - great for terminal blocks, wagos etc. It’s just for crimping one - the stripped wire goes into the plastic end, and the metal sheathing is crimped down onto the exposed wire.

I like the protected tabs because barring any absurd workspace dimensions I can use the plastic as extra leverage to press down on the tab with.

Some dumber manufacturers put the reset button right above a port, such that the clip cover can bump it on insertion.

It presses the button or else it gets the hose again.
I’ve never seen that button reboot a switch. If held during a reboot it will interrupt the boot process but not initiate it.
I’m a no boot man, causes more issues then they solve.
Yes! I freaking hate boots and I’ve never really yanked a cable from the end where it would get stuck on something and I’ve been under a lot of desks and in telco closets/data centers.

yeah same. I can count on one hand the number of times I’ve ripped lock tabs off, meanwhile the number of times the stiff protective boot makes it impossible to unclip when it is cold or more than 5yo is easily in the thousands.
Also reterminating a plug with a broken lock tab takes like 5 minutes to cut and crimp… Or be a real chad and throw a strip of duct tape to hold it in and say fuckit.
Used to run LAN parties. We had a big bag of ethernet cables we inherited from the people who ran it before us, and like 50% of them had no tab. Eventually we chucked them out.
5 min to fix is generous too. That includes finding your tools before and putting them away after.
I have an optiplex micro I bought off eBay that has the opposite of the locking tab on the jack broken out. Piece of string tied around the cable then wrapped around the chassis to hold it in place.

It’s there so the little plastic tab that keeps the Ethernet cable plugged in doesn’t break easily.
Because honestly, those little plastic tabs are a shit design for keeping something important plugged in.
Time for you to discover ‘locking Ethernet’ which has its own pros and cons
