Chinese manufactures are making cars that literally jump over potholes… And I think they’re in production.

Whereas, Elon demos something that will never go to production, is totally useless, and is basically a falling car…

Tesla are so far behind at this point. I bet even the cheap chinese cars don’t leak in their boot

Tesla drivers I see fall into 3 categories:

    • 2017 or older: fair enough, and credit for moving to EVs so early!
    • 2018-2023: er, Elon seems like kind of a twat. Are you sure? The whole Thai cave thing? But, you know, some benefit of the doubt.
    • 2024+: You are supporting a literal Nazi.

I am pissed off that Tesla still make the best electric cars. I want to change over but nothing compares. (In EU)

So I will keep my own car going for a few more years.

That is not quite true though. While they indeed still make (2) good car models there are alternatives on the market that can rival them (eg Kia EV4 or Renault Scenic E-tech 89kWh) and those alternatives can do so while actually having real buttons, that you don’t have to take off the eyes from the road just because you want to adjust the A/C or whatever. If you really wanted to leave Tesla, you could. That said, I don’t see the point in selling a perfectly good car in working condition for such reasons. What difference does it make if someone else is driving it and if no one is driving it it is a waste of resources.

Also, the Renault Scenic E-tech 89 kWh has a comparable range for example, so does the Kia EV4. Prices are comparable too.

When’s the last time you looked? Hyundai Ioniq 5 / 6, BMW i4, Xpeng G6 for example come to mind. Bonus: they’re on an 800V platform so loading from 10% - 80% is like 14 minutes compared to ~25 minutes for a model 3

Citation needed. What makes it the best EV for you? I know several models I’d prefer over model y or 3.

I quite appreciate the visceral dislike that people have for Tesla. Given that we see their products directly in our everyday lives, I certainly don’t blame people for reacting this way, and I’m happy to encourage this sort of scrutiny, especially over the longer term. I sometimes think, though, that the zeitgeist is missing some of the deeper damage that Musk’s enterprises are inflicting. I don’t think there’s nearly enough journalism about the ongoing effects of DOGE cuts, for example.

And then there’s SpaceX. In all the anger over the throttling of Starlink (“Starshield”) for the defenders in Ukraine, I haven’t seen a single note of awareness about Starlink and LEO satellite megaconstellations being inherently harmful (regardless of who launches them). Aside from the increased orbital collision risk, the atmospheric pollution, and the blinding of astronomical facilities (including asteroid defense), there’s the threat to the ozone layer from all that reentering aluminum. All of which will only increase as lunatics continue to use near-orbital space as their dumping ground.

It’s a powerful metaphor for our time. When it comes to Tesla, I think there’s a good company in there, somewhere. And SpaceX absolutely employs some of the best aerospace talent on the planet, capable of advancing legitimate science and exploration in space. And yet, so many brilliant folk are caught up employing their skills in juvenile displays like flying car stunts and planet-encircling rings of disposable satellites.

Eh, it could’ve been but on the other hand, the design is plausible. Stupid, but plausible.

Basically a space craft lander themed as a car.

Note that even by Tesla standards, they said no one could even ask for that car and that car would never be street legal. They did send have waving around whether the limited mid tier car would be street legal by saying it was contingent on your local regulations for thrusters on cars, which is a long way to say it wont be street legal either.

Even though they say the lowest end will be street legal, that active down force system says otherwise.

But a promised production date in 2 years in Tesla time means we went be seeing it for a long time, if ever.

Crazy to think how many lives could be saved from hunger by even a fraction of the money that it took to develop this Little Dick Energy stunt show.

Stock market is always weird to think about.

Just a fraction of the rich peoples’ gambling money can make imaginary industries with no profit like chatbots stay alive.

Their combined wealth is at levels of a post-scarcity society and they keep using it in dumb ways.

Youre telling me that cancelling 2 of its models and introducing this model, which is priced around s $200,000 and will probably never see the road as is because of safety reasons, will make the company stock go down?

It was an impressive tech demo. You know that every idiot who saw this thinks to himself how awesome he would look, jumping over the car in front of him. The ultimate road rage power fantasy.

    Love the meme.

As soon as I saw this thing boost forward using rocket thrust both my bf and I said “if this is ever on the road everyone near this thing dies.”

Because some fucking brain dead idiot is going to rocket boost, kill himself from the speed, everyone behind him from the backblast, and everyone in front of him from the giant expensive bullet that was just created.

This is never going to get on the roads, and if it does, it’ll be only for police and military, if it’s not relegated to an expensive toy for the ultra rich they can’t even drive on the road.

Roadster is definitely coming out, but 100% not going to have a thruster fit into a car, no one should listen to Empty Husk when he said that.

Last I knew like 1/3 of the population would pass out or such experiencing those g forces. Aka no person can be trusted to drive the device past performing the possibly brain damaging device.

Passing out for half a second wouldn’t even matter since you cant steer or break either way during the boost.

And down 12% from April, down 19% from January, down 7% from Monday.

I can pick arbitrary dates for comparison too.

However since the currently relevant topic is what that stunt did for Tesla, this graph is more specifically on target.

Yeah ppl love sharing these 1 day drops as if it won’t be completely recovered in a month. The whole thing is a huge rigged casino they know those price drops are just to shake down the poor’s for whatever they have left. Tsla is still ridiculously over valued but good luck shorting them, this is not a rational market based in reality.
