This happened in France during François Hollande’s term. The French people were fed up with Sarkozy’s outraging reign, so we voted massively “left”, only to discover that the French socialist party was applying… right-wing politics and economics (signing the entire party’s death warrant), leading us to 10 years of neo-liberal/fascist Macron, who claimed to be a centrist (the equivalent of your Dems), capitalizing on both right and left voters’ disappointment.
Pressurize your elected representative. Don’t let them slip, or terrorize them into leftism. They’re your elected representatives. They’re your bitches. Treason to the People must be met with retribution.

I called my reps today to tell them I do want impeachments and criminal investigations.
One of them I got a live person who said she’d fielded similar calls this week.
Yep, this needs to happen. With the establishment today saying “we weren’t elected to hold them accountable, but to fix the economy” (which the economy almost only ever means stock values to them, not how the average person is doing), they need to be pushed to actually do something. This clearly didn’t happen in order for them to preserve the status quo, and they know that. Hopefully it’s the dying breath of the corporate-owned Democrats.
A much larger fraction of the newly elected are those who came to bring a fight, so the USians chances are much better this time if they persist
Impeachment and getting even aren’t priorities: They’re framing one of the key things they were elected for as childish and unnecessary.
I’m actually a little stunned they didn’t let voters enjoy the thought of whatever they imagined Democrats would do for a little while.

At a certain point, if you’re still really into compromising with republicans, it becomes difficult to say you’re that much better than they are.

Well yes, but how is the shift calculated. Do they take the numbers from the house election, the senate election, something else, all of the above?

Yeah I’m hoping this election kills the “I live in a solid red state so there’s no point in voting, I might as well vote third party” sentiment I’ve seen here.
Which is literally the opposite of what makes sense! I live in a state that strongly aligns with how I vote so I have the luxury of protests voting, and often do. If you don’t have the margin of error all you’re doing is working against your own best interests.
