Had a productive day: caught up with the real estate agents who sold me this place and checked out a place that had been suggested but came onto the market too late to suit. (This one is definitely better.) Then started tackling the boxes of kitchen stuff that are still unpacked as well as reorganising the kitchen. Then felt like a break and a bahn mi so I got that via another OFI in the block of units where I made my first offer and got pipped at the post. And had no trouble walking at a medium pace three times for about 15 minutes, so yay!
What did I do to deserve his love? I would give my life for him 😭🙌

I’m up to Gollum’s Song. Such a haunting and compassionate song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zkXbzffVl44
Queue up The Hobbits are going to Isengard on YT for when in in-laws arrive.
The 10 hour version is enough to send anyone into facial tic territory 😜
can i be your neighbour
Just woke up from my 4pm nap. FML.
Hi friend it’s me your twin. Just stay in bed 😪
Has anyone got a nice simple puff pastry recipe they use and can recommend? I made homemade sausage rolls today and my filling was delicious, but I’m annoyed at the bought pastry I used. It was awful! I’ve tried every brand of readily available bought puff and it’s all awful, I’m over it.
You can’t go wrong with Julia Childs’ recipie - many heaps of vijos on youtoob. This is the old school classic, and takes a fair bit of work and time. The good side is that the raw pastry freezes well, so making a large batch and only using the portion you need for one use, and then for the next use 90% of the work is already done - at least until the stash is used up. Recommend using unsalted cultured butter for the authentic flavor. The original and best.
For quick pastry, I like using the Womens Weekly Rough Puff for savory recipies - so quick and easy and the results taste just fine though the texture is not quite as flaky. Again, one zillion recipies on youtoob. You can play a bit fast and loose with the proportions for this recipie depending on what you have available, so it’s a very user friendly method. The only real secret is using chilled water to mix and resting the dough before rolling out and using. This weather is perfect for pastry - it’s a pain to make in hot weather.
Just had a look at the AFL ladder after tonight’s games. There are 6 teams on 32 points. If Hawthorn wins over West Coast tomorrow, they’ll join them for 7 teams. Even though they’ll have a crappy percentage. Next few rounds will be interesting.
Apart from Sydney being well clear it’s a logjam down below and it’s been a rather strange season as well with teams dropping off badly and some teams coming back from nowhere like Hawthorn.
Going to make the next few wins or losses very important for those teams.
@Duenan @Thornburywitch Hawthorn is currently on 7 wins, with games still to come against West Coast, North, Adelaide, and Richmond.
On recent form, percentage aside, I could definitely see them ending up in the finals…
These have come up very nicely! No abrasives needed, just a damn good oil soak. Their weighting is perfect. Modern tools so oft suck.
What kind of oil?
Hemp. Simply because it was on hand.
I’m a modern tool.
149 Gipps St, Abbotsford
You need TWO ball peen hammers? Or are they display copies only???
Different weights different uses. I prob have little use for the larger, but these are some of the few physical objects I’ll get from Father.
Ah, understood. Cherish them.
I’m looking for a tea caddy spoon and fell down a rabbit hole of T2 fancy teas and infusions and weighing and timing and i’m just like…dude i’m too fucking poor white for this shit. I shovel it into a giant pot, fill it with boiling water then strain out the gooblies with a sieve as my ancestors did.
I like dogs but the fact is I’m allergic to them. And my allergies to cats are exponentially worse.
For some reason I’ve been blessed with a hyperactive immune system. Spring as you can imagine is a real bitch. But I must say my symptoms are not nearly as bad now as they were when I was a kid.
Interesting. Apparently the city of Melbourne use Ninite
For all we know a City of Melbourne employee installed a free trial 10 years ago using their work email. That tends to be how these logo showcases work.
I think that’s how Slack and Atlassian got so many logos for their websites. Look through the free tier for recognisable brands and download the press kit
That reminds me. I saw the other day you were saying your PC isn’t that great. I’ve got a spare i7 board and CPU you can have. Can send it to you via mail if you want it.
It’s pretty much gathering dust. Not too old either. I just can’t remember the exact model of CPU.
I’m an AMD guy now lol
fust, bwa ha ha
Hehe.
Gratitude thread :)

Saw my friend from Sydney last night. She gave me Jesus soap and put some in our friend’s shower for shits and gigs.
-
going to a trampoline park today which hopefully should be fun
-
my aunt told me she’s getting a puppy in two weeks and I’m so excited to meet her
-
also I found out who the girl was from work yesterday. Turns out she sometimes goes by a different name to what she introduced herself as. I wasn’t going insane :D
I am grateful I never need meet my in-laws. Stories like Seagoon’s hit hard. Blood Family is not immune from general bastardry and does not deserve anything automatically.
Yesterday
- I learnt how to use a lighter (I don’t smoke and I’ve generally not been able to have candles or incense, so I’ve just never learnt how to use one).
- I fell asleep really quickly.
- I got a new laptop charger to replace my old one which was a cheap knockoff that wouldn’t stay in the wall (it would fall out).
Today:
- I woke up at 8, but was able to get back to sleep and stay asleep until 11
- Amazon put my favourite brand and flavour of rice crackers back in stock so I got them for a 60 cent discount compared to the supermarket
I am grateful I have no responsibilities today and can go to bed at 8pm if I feel like it.
Also for early 80’s transformers cartoons.
And Gibson as per

Worked out that riding my m’cycle to/from work is a great self-regulator, even with getting annoyed in traffic. (Pls no fines this week.)

Great banter with people who get you right off the bat… It’s not often, so I do forget how much it fills my tumbler.

While not invalidating my gripes, I 100% know how good I have it. Not really for want of anything, roof, warmth, bed, friends, acquaintances, privilege of engaging in most desires and hobbies and a little bit of work if I want that little bit more. Can’t have it all (right now?), but what I have I am entirely grateful for. Even when I’m being a brat.

wind’s howling
God, it was so strong last night! Thought the tree was gonna fall over…
lurv recaptcha. Does anyone in the tropics wear shoes when riding a motorcycle and I keep singing “I like traffic lights” by monty python https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbRyH6fkee0
Why is it always motorbikes or traffic lights? Occasionally busses. Surely there are other suitable subjects?
Maybe because they sell the results to auto driving car databases?
…although my names not bamber…
Because my name’s not Bamber … EDIT: the Medical Love Song on that album is always a joy.
one of the all time great monty python lines
( at the time Bamber was a famous name, he hosted uk university challenge )
ugh, had a nasty nightmare about anxiety. I was packing to travel and husband was impeding me, making me late, making me anxious. I got angry.
