I’ve been listening to Chappell Roans album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess and I’m in love.

    lovey mushy goo goo shite

My partner came home from work last night and started playing Stellaris while listening to the album as well. He said we should go see her if she comes to Aus. He says one of the reasons he loves me is that I never judge him for liking Pop music, and I sing along with him to Call Me Maybe lol. He knows the lyrics better than I do.

    I love my Pop Boi.

Knee deep in the passenger seat, and you’re eating me out
        Is it casual now?

Those lines are virulent, so damn catchy. Naked in Manhattan and My Kink is my Karma are my favs so far I think, but it’s hard because every song is great!

I know they get a lot of hate, but I actually like the new short Coles paper bags. They have about the same effective carrying capacity (unless you are buying something really light like a bulk purchase of marshmallows) but are much less likely to end up torn. They also seem more stable, things don’t end up rolling around inside the bag as much. The larger bags almost always ended up torn during delivery when they had cans of cat food and similar in them, it hasn’t happened once with the shorter ones.

I have not had the same experience. I find they all rip in no time. The plastic ones lasted 10-15 uses. The paper ones are lucky to last 2.

I grew up hearing “western shirt”, another term was a Miller Shirt as that was the popular brand. But then it had to have pearl snaps. I expect flannel shirts have buttons.

Whaaaaat! Western shirt - tight fitting cotton plaid, sometimes with press studs. Flannel shirt - made with flannelette cotton (which is thicker) or wool, worn looser with ordinary buttons.

      Two different style of shirts.

and today on “searches that will get me on a list”

Moorabbin was once renowned for its springs. I am randomly trying to find where they were. Unfortunately I am surrounded by goddamn car repair shops so guess what fucking comes up when you search “Moorabbin springs” so now I’m digging at hydrogeological data for the entire port phillip bay area to find the aquifers…

I do not like that forecast. I looked at the predications for the next week and the coldest mornings are all the ones I’m working (which means 4am wakeup). Two days -1, one day 0, and a pleasantly warm 2 degrees for the other. There should be an extra penalty rate or allowance for early starts in below zero temperatures.

Lie on side - raise top arm and possibly knee to create cat tent with doona - she may go under and then you can possibly slowly lower the doona down over the lower half of her body.

It might be more effective with a heat source to tempt her in.

Maybe Melbcat is unusually cuddly for a cat though

This is the way. I never met a cat that could resist the call of the “cat tent” and it’s emanating warmth. Especially being claustrophiles as they often are.

One cat really didn’t like being confined and would lash out (a neglected runaway I eventually got back to his owner) but with patience he started to spoon with me over the covers on his own. He would allow me to pick him up.

If he’d crashed for longer than a few months I might have built enough trust for the cat tent

Retreating to bed cause it’s fucking freezing. Fortunately got the electric blanket on in preparation so beds nice and warm at least. Reckon I’ll leave the electric towel rail on tonight too just so don’t freeze my junk off when I get up at 6am.

I am trying to space out my watching of the Bear season 3 but it’s so hard. You know the show is good when it’s a flashback episode, and you know it turns out ok, but you are still on the edge of your seat the whole time.

I’m partway through s3 e9 and I definitely found this season a lot more spaced out and chill than the past two seasons. It seems to be the reason it’s not so popular either, but I like it. More slow-burn character exposés and a great showcase of the acting talent, after the frenetic pace of the last two seasons. I’ve read that they filmed s4 at the same time so it tracks that they’re taking longer with plot developments this time around.

I’m not that far yet. Just finished the Tina episode. I just love the characters and for such relatively short episodes they really pack a lot of depth in. I am enjoying the pace too

Even with the slower pace there’s so much going on in each episode. It’s sort of a beautiful fleshed out epilogue to s2. I loved the Tina episode that way. Also, that long montage of all the service workers in s3e2, that made me feel so connected and proud to be part of a society for a moment

Well…it’s certainly still stressful but I have enjoyed it the whole way through. S2 had a couple of very intense episodes but S3 is more chill (tho I am waiting for something terrible around the corner).

Done the last of the repotting and prepared 3 big pots for jalapeno seedlings. Sewed up the outdoor toy penguin and put it out. Done daiso shopping, bought gloves, no one had fingerless gloves so imma just cut the fingers off myself. Got all the sewing haberdashery I need to do some french embroidery on my jumper. All the tapestry fabric for recovering the chairs is cut out and ready. Pizza is being done. Cats are brushed and fed.

I refuse to listen to the news, the whining from the dems is driving me crazy. Just fricking use power and do something.

I go for the pre training review thingy today. They sent me the link yesterday and reiterated I had to fill out the LLN assessment prior to the PTR, so i wrote back to ask if they’d received my assessment, and they never replied which is always a good sign.

I feel like this is a bit of a pivotal moment for me, and this is about the point I’d start making saves if this were a game…

In other news, I was finally able to go watch that bad men movie on Sunday (3rd time’s the charm, I guess). I enjoyed it, even though I never saw the other one(s? I think it’s a trilogy). I pieced enough of it together to still enjoy myself.

Hot water bottle just woke me up cos sprang a leak. Only by now it’s a slightly warm water bottle which is a relief. And it’s only on its third year of use. Damn. TGF mattress protector. Would not be fun drying a mattress this time of year.
