That’s the Fallout version I bought and didn’t like. It just didn’t capture my interest for some reason. I’m happy I move onto Horizon:Zero Dawn though, I really liked that one (have just started the sequal now).

STILL not 100% from stomach bug that started last Wednesday. Improved though. I resorted to immodium last night so I could get a proper sleep without getting up a bunch. Slept about 14 hours. Heading in to work now and I’ll see how I go. Haven’t been so wrecked by a stomach bug maybe ever.

Asking for suggestions on how I can help the homeless who are living near me.

There are people living in vans and cars and some who sleep on the footpaths.

i give money to people sleeping on footpaths and chat a moment and listen to what they have to say.

I can’t really do anything substantial, I don’t have the resources.

I wish I knew. Money may or may not help them. They might use it for drugs and alcohol but also might buy something they need, and it’s made a difference to their day. You have to accept both possibilities and, and hope you’ve made someone’s day better. I think food banks are a good donation, either money or items, because at least I know they have the infrastructure to distribute to where it’s needed, and this time of year theres high demand.

I already give to charities that help the homeless and people in need.

where I am there is a free public bathroom with showers and free public kitchen and cooking/bbq facilities

Maybe I should just ask individuals

Do the bathrooms supply soap and razors? They probably would right. What about deodorant to take or mini bottles of moisturiser? Lip balm? Sunscreen? Umbrella?

Pads and tampons is a good option or floss. Socks. Shelf stable snacks like muesli bars for between meals? Portable hand sanitizer? Mini packs of tissues or baby wipes

I think van livers have different needs to street sleepers. And I also don’t know what people’s circumstances are, only that they aren’t sleeping in a house. Tho there are two caravans at the park. Does that count as a dwelling?

Things I’ve heard can be really helpful are things like toothpaste and sanitary products. You can imagine if you were a woman and homeless how much harder things would be without a fresh supply of pads.

Aside from that, I’d probably go things that can keep for a while both before and after being opened like cans of lentils or chickpeas.

Moving an armchair because your house flooded and inadvertantly allowing your mixed breed terrier to scale it and access the guinea pig enclosure while you are out at a Christmas Eve party also ends badly. For the guinea pigs anyway, the dog thought it was the best Christmas ever. My other dog tried to join in and just ended up stuck in the rabbit enclosure below and I found them all chilling in there together when I got home, so I’m not sure if he thought the whole adventure was good or bad.

I see you’ve experienced a similar trauma. I was in primary school, got home and the dog had dug under the enclosure. Thankfully I didn’t see the aftermath, my dad had cleaned it up but I went from 3 Guinea pigs and a rabbit to none.

Funnily enough while the dogs saw the guinea pigs as prey they treated the rabbits like slightly odd dogs and cooexisted quite well with them.

I’ve never met a guinea pig.

Do they do anything? chase a ball? respond to their names?

quietly backs up google drive The real fun on this shit will start if Google needs age verification to access Gdrive and / or docs. Which are used by many, many, manyyyy businesses.

Of course, being that the fresh hell mandate kicks in on a weekend in the middle of a period people are guaranteed to take off, we’re not gonna see the real fireworks until next year.

I backed mine up too and switched to remade alternate provider emails in case I lose access but I may have missed some :/

The more they pull this shit the more I’m going to retreat from their platforms and services

      That’s hardly social media.

Just because there’s Google Chat and YouTube?

It’s not a social media ban. It’s a “protect the children from teh PORN!!” rule.

        still bullshit.

          It is so much bullshit.

I’m absolutely down to Degoogle (and get rid of Windows and Microsoft) but it’s a lot of administrative work and organisation for someone who doesn’t even have energy for hobbies and loses items while they’re still holding it.

They’ve done a good job of monopoly. Or rather an evil job.

A lot of small businesses literally run on google sheets and docs (I work for one, hence the prudent backups before we go on leave until next year). Most of them tend to be of the sort that provide things other companies literally need to operate. Going to be a bit of an oopsie here.

Lol why don’t they just do what the UK did (but the kids got around that too)? Or just make the ban for everyone if we need to verify our ages
