• Trump’s approval has taken a substantial swing of 9.6 points, from a net positive of 6.2 points in late January to a net negative of 3.4 points in mid-April.
  • Trump’s loss in support among Hispanic and young adults has been especially steep.
  • The president has not persuaded Americans that foreign countries and producers will bear the burden of higher tariffs, or that the gain will be worth the pain.

He won the popular vote. Step foot outside an urban area and you’ll see that his popular support isn’t just an illusion.

There’s a floor of around 38% of Americans who are going to hold that line to the death. They’ve lost friends, family, and businesses over their stance already and haven’t budged. This has been going on for ten years now. They’re in it til the end.

We all know what it actually takes to stop Fascists.

      Wait a second… what?

I am not joking, what is the solution you are signaling to?

Bullshit. Every leader, even a dictator, needs public support.

The deeper they get their claws in, the less support they need. But Trump doesn’t have them in that deep yet.

Every leader, even a dictator, needs public support.

They get it, implicitly, from the mass of people who continue about their business uninterrupted.

What protest seeks to do is to kick off a popularly supported disruption in a dictator’s supply chain. But what they risk is taking the blame for the crisis, as a result.

The deeper they get their claws in, the less support they need. But Trump doesn’t have them in that deep yet.

He’s got all the cabinet level offices and is purging the departments of opponents. There is nothing currently in his way

This is exactly what I’m referring to, yes. If people withdraw their support, the regime always collapses. However, things usually have to get bad for people to feel motivated enough to do this.

He has near full control of the executive branch, which is perhaps the most powerful force in our society. But it is not the only force. We have seen resistance from the judiciary, from universities, from law firms, from businesses, from unions, and of course from ordinary people. Right now most of this resistance has been fairly weak and disorganized. But I expect it to grow in strength as the ineffectiveness of his governance becomes more apparent and his popularity drops.

That’s not to say we should be complacent. Most people here are relatively educated and radicalized to see where things could be headed if Trump is not stopped. Everyone reading this should be thinking about how they can safely resist and especially who they can connect to and cooperate with to make this resistance stronger and more effective.

Polls don’t mean shit. You’re gonna need to drag him out of the oval office by his ankles if you want him to leave.

Polls do matter, because it won’t go over well to “Mousolini” him if he still has a strong base. But clearly he and Bukele are wary of the growing unrest, or else they would not have separated Garcia from the CECOT gen pop or allowed a photo op.

We are only 3 months in and he has flinched a few times. There is serious hope that his reign will be much shorter than Erdogan’s, for example, regardless of his personal health.

Important to remember trump is a symptom. It’s his cult of supporters that stand behind and support no matter what he does.

This is 10s of millions of people. They are police, lawyers, judges, doctors, teachers, neighbors, etc.

Getting rid of trump is important, but the point is we have much bigger foundational problems to fix. Conservative elite billionaire oligarchy class owning our media, political system, education, propaganda, etc. They are the ones who helped cause all this.

Same crap I thought in 2016 probably (thanks reddit). F the dems and burn the place to ground. I f%#!ing hope they grow up. Cause that was a terrible choice. I still say f the dems but you need to prioritize targets from most evil first then work your way down.

They didn’t. They didn’t vote for the alternative because of one issue. That’s the problem.

Have you been on YouTube lately? (Or any algorithmic social media in general, like Facebook?) Pro-MAGA content gets promoted while anything against is buried. Anti-Trump comments are hidden and you get a “some content might not be visible yet” message in your comment history.

Gen Z was raised by algorithms, so is it really a big surprise that they lean MAGA?
