Trump, a very stable genius knows high speed rail is a good idea. I am extremely against high speed rail as an antifa leftist.

200mph is pretty good. That’s 320 kph. IIRC, China’s high speed rail has a max speed of 350kph, often cruising at 300kph.

Fun fact: the train pictured here is a Siemens Velaro. That’s the same family of train as the ICE.

It’s the American Pioneer Edition, the variant for the American market, set to operate Brightline West services, but even that one is based on Velaro Novo, a platform designed 100% in Germany.

        Edit: Velaro Novo for comparison:

as great as high speed rail would be… the problem with this would be the people it would kill because they cut corners. same reason to be wary of any push for nuclear power by this administration.

No, but Hitler built the Autobahn (mostly for war purposes) and to this day there a still a few Germans that use this for “at least he did something good”.

“Fascist administration carried out infrastructure (using slave labour) that would create benefit for the companies it was serving” isn’t the own fascists think it is.

Not even that. The plans existed beforehand, and what the Nazis built was largely useless in war as rail logistics were way more important and the network was rather incomplete. What the Autobahn did enable, though, was the quick advance of allied troops. Parts of the Autobahn were also used as military airports which is why you see the current-day Autobahn make a weird curve around Ramstein Airbase. Those still exist but unlike in the cold war it’s not airbases that can pop up within days but sections of paved median, with the barriers separating the directions being easily removable. That is, the runway is mostly in place, the rest would have to be constructed, OTOH it’s dirt cheap to do.

Mostly, for the Nazis, it was a works programme. Millions of unemployed were put to the task under quite bad working conditions, the workers then wrote letters to the Führer portraying the bad, “Ungermanic, dishonourable” behaviour of their bosses, those letters never reached Hitler they reached the GeStaPo. C.f. “Wenn das der Führer wüsste”.

Let’s declare a war on bad infrastructure! We can funnel all “War on Y” money in. America First! Let’s reduce unemployment with a huge jobs program. Hire everyone to build tracks, trails, and parks.

Honestly at this point, we should just all fully get behind this tactic as I think it genuinely has a good shot of accomplishing more than taking politics seriously.

The giant, gaping flaw in your idea is that it requires leftists to all rally together and cooperate on a unified plan and actually work together.

You’re describing something very deep, while only touching the surface.

On the left, people are not very forgiving of other leftists, when they cross the line. And if you really cross the line, then we just don’t want you on our team anymore, gtfo.

On the right, it’s like no matter what you’ve done, as long as you fight for the same thing as the others, you can still be on the team. This is why you see artists make a shift to the right, just before a big scandal, they know they will still have a fangroup as long as they share rightwing propoganda.

This is great for the right wing in the short term, but eventually the techbros and the christofascists, and the Nazis will all realize that they don’t really have anything in common, except a desire to rule everything. “But not like that, like this!”

It’s gonna be interesting to see the showdown between all the different fascist groups Trump has under his flag.

Yes, fascism cannibalizes itself. This means that, in the end, fascism always collapses, however, that doesn’t prevent it from doing lots of damage in the meantime

If trump managed to build effective high speed rail that goes coast to coast, hits more than just NYC and LA, and is affordable, I think history would probably end up forgiving him for a lot of shit.

    Never gonna happen though.

Only Arbeit is capitalized and its the only noun.

In german the capitalisation of words sometimes changes the meaning of the:

macht (from the verb machen, to do/make) Macht (as a verb means force/power/might)

I saw this double meaning several times, like the title of an art exibition: Geld Macht Kunst ( money, power, art or money makes art)
